Transformation of the Body and Soul takes time but it's Worth It !!
2013
I began my weight loss journey in my 20’s when I joined Weight Watchers.
As a pastor’s wife and women’s missions’ leader,
I felt convicted about
my eating habits and knew it was a bad testimony to those around me.
I began praying about getting help because
I couldn’t do it on my own.
I needed someone to come
alongside me to help me on this journey.
One of the ladies in my church had gone back to Weight Watchers
and she invited me to join her. I began
attending Weight Watchers in
August 2011.
Then another friend invited me to join Angel Fitness
with her. I began working out at Angel Fitness in
late September 2011. for the first time.
I lost 25
pounds and kept it off for a few years.
Then when I got married, I began to gain it back plus some.
Over the years I would gain and lose, but my weight kept creeping higher
and higher. I hit my highest weight the summer of 2011.
I knew I had reached a crisis point. I hurt and ached every day,
I didn’t have any energy, and I was unhappy with the way I
looked. Work clothes were hard to find as I reached a size 24 or 3X--
-the biggest size I had ever been.
For about 5 months, I worked out on my own on the treadmill and weight
machines. After I lost about 40 pounds,
I felt confident enough to join some of the workout classes.
Since then, I regularly attend classes, and as of Thanksgiving 2012,
I have lost 95 pounds!!!
I am currently a size 12, but hope to become a size 10.
I have about 12 more pounds to lose to reach my Weight Watchers goal
weight. I feel a lot more
confident and have so much more energy!
My aches and pain have gone away, and I feel like a different
person!
Angel Fitness is a perfect fit for me as it is a ladies’ gym with a
Christian focus. I really enjoy
working out at Angel Fitness because I feel better and I enjoy working out with
friends. I truly feel blessed to
have accomplished this in the past year-and-a-half.
I couldn’t have done it without the Lord’s strength, and the support of
so many wonderful friends! Thank
you LaDonna, Emily, and Regina for all your support and help.
You are wonderful!

2013
I joined Angel Fitness on Aug 1st. I had never belonged to a gym. I was a
life time member of Weight Watcher since 2007. I quit going to weight watcher a
year ago. Since then I’ve gained a lot of weight back. I used to walk for
exercise which ended up with me making a lot of excuses not to “too hot”, “too
cold”, rainy or I would put other things first. I was upset with myself for
letting myself get out of control. Things had to
change!
On my first visit to Angel Fitness, LaDonna took my assessments and gave me a
specialized workout program. I rejoined Weight Watchers and got back on the
program plus taking Angel Fitness classes and working out on the machines 3
times a week. I looked forward to going to the gym in the mornings.
The ladies were very nice and encouraging. LaDonna took my measurements
after 30 days and to my amazement I lost 12 ½ inches!
After 5 months I had lost 22 inches and 32 pounds!
I was wearing a size 14 pants and now I am wearing a size 10, even
some 8’s. My entire body had been re-sculpted.
I am most thankful for my husband’s support,
joining a gym with me in Texas for the winter. We were both
going to Silver Sneakers classes for muscle strength and a range of motion
exercises. Our friends in Texas couldn’t believe how great I looked which makes
me feel great.

Emily’s 2013 Testimonial
As of January 2013, I have been on my weight loss journey for five
years. For two-and-a-half years I
have maintained my weight between 190-195 lbs. Now to many of you that may sound
high. However, I am only one size
bigger than I was in high school.
In high school I was 5’10” tall, weighed 165 lbs., and was a size
10. Now I’m still 5’10” tall,
weigh between 190-195 lbs., and I’m a size 12, but almost a size 10.
The only thing keeping me from being a size 10 is the excess skin I have
acquired from being overweight for so many years.
The only reason I can come up with for the weight difference is the
weight of the excess skin and the fact that I’m a lot more muscular/solid than I
was in high school.
The most popular question people ask me is, “How do you keep it
off?” There is no one thing that I
do to keep it off. It’s a lot of
work---physically and mentally.
Physically I have to do all the things I should have been doing years and
years ago---eat right and exercise, but not just exercise.
I have to challenge myself, try new things, and push myself harder than
before without going over the edge and burning myself out.
I have to know my limits.
Mentally I have to view my body as a separate entity from my spirit. When I look in the mirror, I see the
vessel that God gave me to carry me through this life.
I have to look at that vessel and decide what’s best for it to perform at
its best. For example, a car
carries you from one place to another.
You have to take care of that car properly in order for it to work its
best. You have to wash it, change fluids, and keep it fueled.
Would you dump a cup of sugar into the gas tank?
Would you replace the oil with syrup? Would you let the engine fall
apart? Would you let it get filthy
and rust? How far would a car get
you in that condition? Not
very. And the same goes for your
body. Don’t fill your vessel with
sugar and junk. Keep it tuned up
and purring. Don’t get me wrong, I like my Lucas Fuel Treatment or STP Oil
Treatment once in a while. I like
my treats of cookies or ice cream, but not on a regular basis and not in large
quantities. So as you can see,
it’s a lot of physical and mental discipline that keeps the weight
off.
I do have a goal for 2013 (other than the usual eat right and
exercise). This year is my 10 year
wedding anniversary. We’re going to renew our vows and have pictures taken. When I got married in 2003, I weighed
about 250 lbs., my dress was a size 20, and I was breastfeeding a
three-month-old. I wore a
bridesmaid/prom dress and felt fat.
Now I’ve bought an actual wedding dress, I’ve lost the weight, and now I
can look like the bride I wanted to be 10 years ago.
So my goal for 2013 is to get muscle definition and get all toned up so
I’ll look awesome in that dress---and I have until October to do it.
I’ll let you know how it goes and show you pictures later this
year!!!!
